biphobia

Biphobia, binegativity. These are attitudes of discomfort, fear or hostility towards people who are attracted to more than one gender. These are encouraged by power structures in society called monosexism. We can criticize the word biphobia because it gives the impression the problem is only with the biphobic person, but it’s the result of these social structures; many people prefer the term binegativity for this reason. When a bi+ person believes in some of these attitudes about themselves or other bi+ people, it’s internalized binegativity (biphobia).
